8 celebrities who showed some love to Calgary Flames

Win or lose this playoff season, C of Red will still be swimming with outstanding alumni and loyal fans. In fact, you might recognize some of them as famous actors, musicians, and comedians. Now despite getting caught up in the Battle of Alberta (for now), it’s worth remembering how far we’ve come in the series — so here are just a few of the celebrities who’ve shown some love for Calgary Flames over the years. just for fun!

Jason Momoa

Big fan of red and white – Jason Momoa is often seen supporting the Northern Companies and our professional sports teams when in and around Canadian groups. As you can imagine, fans were totally gone when he showed up at the 2018 Calgary Comic in a custom Flames Jersey.

Yarod Joseph

Known for his role on the popular Netflix series The 100, Calgary-born actor Jarrod Joseph is a huge fan of the movie Flames and has even worked with the team to launch a series of official labels with the NHL. Check it out at the link above!

Nick Kroll

As seen above in a festive Instapost, comedian Nick Kroll (big mouthHe shared his love for former Flames icon Joel Otto, his old Calgary T-shirt, and his dad’s legs in the caption. This is a pretty strong shout if we’ve seen it before.

Road Brothers

Comedian legends, Marlon and Shawn Wayans are also among the celebrities who acted as a flaming C while in Calgary. The duo is known to practically shut down Saddledom when they attended a home match in 2010.

Candice Cameron Bure

Vale Bure’s former right-wing ex-wife, ‘Full House’ star has openly supported the local Calgary team more than once – celebrating victories and comebacks and even the return of their old jerseys. We got it dude!

Conan O’Brien

Polarizing character Conan O’Brien caught the attention of eagle-eyed Flames fans during a 2015 episode of his late-night show where a framed Calgary T-shirt can be seen hanging in his office. You may not love him, but he loves us (at least enough to display a flaming C in his space.)

Born in Calgary, it should come as no surprise that alternate pop favorites Teegan and Sarah are also fans of our local band – sharing that some of their first memories were from winning the 89th Stanley Cup as a way to celebrate this season’s battle in Alberta. Cute, isn’t it?

Richard Dean Anderson (McGyver)

Although we’re not sure who Anderson himself cheered on during the playoffs, his on-screen character MacGyver was a huge fan of Flames, often wearing Calgary swag on the show.
