Balnarring’s $8 Million Beach House to Break Real Estate Record: Australian Home Prices

A charming vineyard covered beach house with stunning indoor and outdoor lounge, luxurious master suite and kitchen bar set to break property records.

The oceanfront oasis, available on the market at US$8 million, is located 1 hour and 15 minutes south of Melbourne at Balnarring Beach and a short stroll down a private path to the water’s edge.

If sold at the upper end of the price range, the four-bedroom, two-bathroom home would be the most expensive Balnarring Beach property, beating the multi-storey beachfront home that sold in April for $7.5 million.

The stunning light-filled family room is the heart of the four-bedroom home and blurs the lines between indoors and outdoors as it opens on both sides to the recreational decks, surrounding gardens and coastal bushland.

The value of Australian real estate has soared to $10 trillion with house prices rising as much as 30 per cent in just one year in some places

The value of Australian residential property has risen above $10 trillion for the first time thanks to 18 months of record low interest rates.

The total value of all homes and apartments rose 21.4 per cent in the year to March when the Reserve Bank’s cash rate was still 0.1 per cent.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed on Tuesday that an annual increase of $1.8 trillion, from $8.4 trillion in the previous year, pushed the total value of residential assets to an all-time high of $10.2 trillion.

Melbourne, which was closed like Sydney for most of last year, saw a smaller increase of 9.4 percent to $930,000. While the value of Australian residential property has risen to more than $10 trillion, RateCity Research Director Sally Tindall said stricter lending rules were already slowing the market.
