Some of the Nollywood actors, celebrities and politicians have taken over the internet space due to one event or another that has been going on around them.

Perhaps the most popular Nigerian actor, Yul Edochie – the news about his marriage to a second wife.

After that, the actor engaged in a somewhat self-assessment, saying that he is “the most common man on the planet.”

Keeping with the weekly trends, reports indicate that former housemate Mariah Cech’s birthday, Big Brother Naija, later became an internet buzz on May 1, when she posted a post on her 30th birthday.

Some social media users took to the internet to analyze how the former BBN housemate revealed three different ages to her fans.

Afrovii, a social media user wrote, “Maria is really funny. She revealed 3 different ages. Her age is Beniga, the age they mistakenly put on her passport and her new age. She just needs to be consistent with whatever story she tells.”

Another user, who said she’s 32, claimed that Maria was in high school but Mariah replied, “It’s me and you. Thank you but don’t forget I’m still your age maybe I’m not that old.”

May 1st was also a day to celebrate Labor Day in the country.

On the same day, her fans congratulated Nigerian singer Toyin Abraham after she shared a photo indicating that she is expecting a baby with her husband.

On the same day, veteran actor Jide Kosoko announced on his Instagram page the birth of his grandson from one of his daughters, Pedemi Kosoko, who is also an actress.

“Big congratulations to the Kosoko and Bankole family, Abidek gave birth to a baby girl this morning. Plus my grandkids. Join me in thanking God and praying for my mom not getting sick after giving birth. Thank you my people.” he wrote.

On Wednesday, Netflix’s Nigerian series, Blood Sisters, became the most talked about movie in the week since its premiere.

Nollywood actors like Kate Henshaw, Ramsay Noah, Gabriel Avolayan, Nancy Essemi, appeared in the suspenseful thriller.

Blood Sisters follows the lives of best friends, Sarah (Ini Dima-Okojie), and Kemi (Nancy Isime), who become fugitives after Sarah’s abusive fiancé, Kola (Deyemi Okanlawon) mysteriously disappears before the wedding.

Speaking of the four-part thriller, viewers took to Twitter to praise the cast for their performance in the series.

Big Brother Naija, former roommates Tyga Dominic and Sami Jacob-Aleva, also came to themselves on Twitter when they later accused the ex of stealing a chicken nugget at Big Brother’s house.

Tega Sammie has been summoned after circulating a video where she was accused of stealing a piece of his chicken while they were at home.

After that, Sami removed the tension, saying that it was an old video that was also edited.

“The way some married women cheat on their husbands especially in Lekki is alarming. How a married woman can flirt with her co-worker, Na Wow,” she posted on her Instagram page.

One of her followers, @moses_genesis1, commented on the post, “Coming from someone who has given birth to children from different men.”

Nigerian actress, Tonto Dickey, has also been reprimanded after exposing her underwear while performing a somersault in a playground with children around her.

She then responded to the trolls saying, “If you like ZOOM ZOOM ZOOOO, the thing you’ll see is very clean*. It smells so nice but such a shame you can’t smell it. Even if you see it for yourself, you can’t touch it, don’t worry” .

On Saturday, the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) kicked off with an open night party as one of the activities designed for the eight-day event.

The event will officially announce the series of activities leading up to Awards Night scheduled for May 14th.

Nigerian artist, Ayodeji Balogun better known as Wizkid, was also celebrated on various social media platforms after winning Best African Artist at the 23rd Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Paying tribute to the winner, the organizers said on their Twitter account, “Congratulations to wizkidayo for winning Best African Artist at #VGMA23 of the year.”

One Twitter user, Jeff, congratulated the artist when he wrote, “Wizkid won Best African Artist at #VGMA23, another Big W for Wizkid Fc. The most honored African artist of all time…Big Wiz.”

Nigerian artist, Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, better known as Kizz Daniel, also trended after the release of his song, “Buga”, appearing on Augustine Miles Kelechi, better known as Tekno.

“Buga” has been topping the charts since its release and has also been trending on social media platforms through the #BugaChallenge where fans are seen dancing to the song.

One Twitter user, SirDavidBent, wrote, “Kizz Daniel knows his way around Afrobeats: write a song with catchy lyrics, come up with slang from the same song and create a dance move that everyone can enjoy. He did this easily with Buga. A rare talent.”
