AAP government in Punjab must be rejected: Congress
The Congress on Sunday sought to dismiss the Adami Public Party government in Punjab over the murder of famous Punjabi singer Seydu Musiwala, saying it had lost the moral authority to govern.
Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi said he was deeply shocked and saddened by the death of a promising Congress leader and talented artist Seydu Musiwala.
“My deepest condolences to his loved ones and fans from all over the world,” Gandhi said.
Congress Party Punjab Chairman Amrinder Singh Raja Warang, who played a key role in bringing Musiwala into the Congress fold, said he was “shocked by the transcendence of faith and expression” and demanded the dismissal of the Adami General Party government.
Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring said on Twitter: “I am shocked by the immeasurable faith and expression. We lost a promising star in INCIndia, Sidhu Mooseewla.”
“He was shot in Mansa just two days after @BhagwantMann govt withdrew his security. The AAPPunjab government has lost moral authority. It should be ostracized,” he said.
Congress spokesman Randeep Surjwala also expressed his deep shock at the “murder of Musiwala in broad daylight”.
“Punjab and Punjab across the world have lost a talented artist who has a collective connection, and can feel the pulse of people. My sincerest condolences to his loved ones and fans around the world,” he said.
The Congress, on its official Twitter account, said the killing of Musiwala was a terrible shock to the party and the entire nation.
“Our sincere condolences to his family, fans and friends. We stand united and stand firm at this time of great sadness,” he said.
BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who had earlier questioned the state government after the names of people whose security had been withdrawn became public, also demanded action against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.
“Punjab Govt has warned us to pay attention to Punjab’s situation. I demand FIR against Bhagwant Mann for neglecting his key ministerial duties which cost the life of #sidhumoosewala. Bhagwant Mann should be booked alongside ArvindKejriwal u/s 302,” he said.
Former Prime Minister Amarinder Singh claimed that law and order had completely collapsed in Punjab.
“Criminals have no fear of the law. The government of AAP Punjab has failed miserably. Nobody is safe in Punjab!
Others whose security has been removed include former MLAs, two Jathedars of Takht Damdama Sahib and Takht Kesgarh Sahib, current and retired Deras chiefs and policemen.
Musiwala joined Congress last year ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections.
The singer faced criticism from several quarters for promoting gun culture in his songs. He was also booked for promoting violence through his song “Sanju”.
He was booked under the Barnala Arms Act and Disaster Management Act after photos surfaced on social media showing him firing an AK-47 at a firing range during the COVID-19 lockdown.
