Tigers Host Ole Miss, Travel to North Alabama for No-Conference Final Roundup

Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis Tiger softball team will split their final week of play without a conference when they host the Rebels of Ole Miss on Tuesday night before making a trip to North Alabama for a game Thursday afternoon.

Memphis (16-32, 2-13 AAC) kicks off a tough weekend in Wichita. Shocker’s offense was unstoppable as they continued to accumulate 43 times over the three game series. Savannah Diederich and Catelyn Riley were judicious in promoting the Ole Miss with Dieserich leading the way with an 82 strike and a 2.45 ERA. Riley, who has nine team wins and only allowed nine additional base strokes this season, comes in with a 2.99 ERA with just over 70 innings of action.

North Alabama (32-13, 11-7 ASUN) recently won the series against Jacksonville State last weekend and is currently second in the Western Division.

The Lions have dominated the board this season with six players over 0.300 while two of them, Georgia Land and Harley Stokes, had lags above 0.600. Land and Stokes lead the team with 14 and 11 homeruns, respectively, while the team’s 85 runs are combined.

UNA has a steady crew on the bowler circuit this season with six different bowlers with 10 or more appearances. Maci Birdyshaw led the crew with a low team 2.96 ERA and 122 strokes. She also has 15 team wins while throwing 10 full games with three lockouts.

The Lions play at Samford on Wednesday before hosting the Tigers on Thursday afternoon.
