While some people like Sam Fender still live and breathe Geordie’s air, others have strayed far from the glamor and charm of places like London and Los Angeles.
Below we take a look at where these Northeast-born celebs live.
Born in Wallsend, Sting Gordon Matthew Sumner became an international star with his band The Police before pursuing a successful solo career.
The Northeastern music legend takes root with his music, The Last Ship, inspired by his childhood experiences and the shipbuilding industry at Wallsend.
Despite his love of the area, he has moved and now lives with his wife in a £7 million 16th-century manor house located in Wiltshire.
Sting also owns an apartment in New York City, which was once owned by Billy Joel, and the property of Villa Il Palagio in Figline Valdarno, Tuscany.
Ant McBarlin and Declan Donnelly
Legends Jordi Ant and December were born in Newcastle and still pride themselves on being a concern where they come from.
The duo made their name on the successful children’s TV show Byker Grove, which took place in Newcastle where they played best friends PJ (Ant) and Duncan (December), and even enjoyed a brief but successful career in the chart.
Ant used to live in Chiswick with his then-plastic artist wife, Lisa Armstrong—on the road from December 4.
However, Ant moved in with his current wife Anne-Marie Corbett in 2018 and the couple bought a £6m mansion in Wimbledon, near the parks and open spaces.
Dess still lives in the seven-bedroom Chiswick mansion alongside his wife Ali Astal and daughter Isla.
Born and raised in the Whiteleys area of South Shields on July 10, 1993, Perry is a third of Pop Little Mix.
After she started dating Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, it was revealed that the couple had been living in a stunning mansion in Surrey.
And in August 2021, the couple announced that they had welcomed a son into the world, whom they named Axel.
Now six months old, Axel is enjoying lavish holidays in Dubai with his mum and dad.
Berry’s colleague and best friend Jade also hails from South Shields in the Lygate area and although she is far from her hometown she is still proud of her hometown.
She now lives in a lavish £1m flat in London but is still regularly spotted in and around the North East.
Jade owns Arbeia Bar on Ocean Road, South Shields, which initially opened in 2019 as Red Door before the 28-year-old singer renamed it in reference to one of the city’s Roman forts.
The quaint venue has attracted a host of fellow celebrities, including Andy Carroll, Joe McElderry, and Sophie Cassai of Jordi Shore.
Known to many of her fans as Cheryl Tweedy, then Cheryl Cole, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, and now simply Cheryl, she rose to fame after winning a place in Girls Aloud, a girl group created through Popstars: The Rivals on ITV.
She later became a celebrity judge on the similar talent show X-Factor.
The 38-year-old was born in Newcastle upon Tyne on June 30, 1983 and grew up in the suburbs of Walker and Heaton.
Since then, Cheryl has made her home in Buckinghamshire in the large village of Chalfont St Peter.
Ridley Scott, a major Hollywood director, was born on November 30, 1937 in South Shields.
But despite his humble beginnings, he has gone on to make a string of influential and hugely acclaimed films that are also box office gold, such as Alien, Thelma, Louise, Blade Runner, and Gladiator.
He has also directed several television commercials including the popular Hovis commercial in which a bread delivery boy pushes his bike up a steep cobbled hill to Dvorak’s New World Symphony dynasties.
The director now divides his time between his homes in London, France and Los Angeles.
