The Met Gala is technically a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but let’s be honest: It’s mostly an excuse for a group of beautifully dressed celebrities who socialize with one another. Which sounds like a blast (that would give anything to unwind with my husband/son Timothée Chalmette), but some celebs…simply didn’t take part in it and, by the way, made their feelings known.
While Anna Wintour only acknowledged the indefinite ban One Someone from the Met Gala, a lot of celebrities are rumored to have been banned due to comments they made about the event. Demi spoke candidly about their experience at the Met Gala during an interview with painting in 2018, and they haven’t attended since. We know for sure that Tim Gunn was banned from the Met Gala because he said a lot in 2016. “It’s absolutely true. It’s a crazy story, and as far as I’m concerned, it’s a very realistic story. I was asked about the most memorable thing I’ve seen in fashion and I said ‘It’s easy. Anna Wintour was being watched down stairs by two bodyguards – two huge guys – from a fashion show. All the doors to hell broke. It’s been crazy. We’ve had an open war ever since.’
Ghouinith baltrow
GOOP made some pointed comments about her time at the Met Gala in 2013, telling Kyle and Jackie Oh Shaw (via us weekly) that it is “annoying” and “seems to be the best thing in the world, you always think, Oh my gosh, this will be so charming and amazing and you will see all these people Then you get there and it’s very hot and very crowded and everyone is pushing you.
