The British public’s understanding of class has always been complex – and younger generations are making it even more complicated. The new country state Unveiled new attitudes toward social class among members of Generation Z and Millennials that differ significantly from those of their older counterparts.
This is especially stark when it comes to celebrities. Marcus Rashford, who spoke publicly during a campaign for free school meals about his disadvantaged childhood, is seen as “upper class” by a majority of younger voters and “working class” by a majority of older voters, for example.
