“Celebrities ** holes, I don’t want to belong to them people, they are crazy people”

Shaquille O’Neal is one of the few names that has been around for decades. The former Los Angeles Lakers center has remained relevant to the basketball community despite retiring from the league 11 years ago.

Although he was tapping into his various other passions, including acting and being an electronic disc jockey, he remained a strong voice in the league. His views and opinion are still worthwhile news as he continues to play an integral role in the game’s media end.

He often described himself as an ordinary guy, not paying much attention to his celebrity status. The 15-time All-Star has always been found doing regular things, regardless of being one of the greatest basketball players.

In an interview with Taylor Rooks for Bleacher Report, Shaquille O’Neal was questioned about his identity when he’s not a basketball legend.

The 4-time NBA champion described himself as a “normal guy,” noting that he denounced his celebrity status six months ago. He also stated that he did not want to belong to them because they are very disrespectful and ignore people.

“Shack is a normal guy. I decried my celebration six months ago,” said O’Neill. “They lack respect, they step on people, they look down on people. That’s not what I do.”

Among his random acts of kindness are “Shaqsgiving,” where he distributes turkeys to families during Thanksgiving, and “Shaq-A-Claus,” which sees him give toys to children. He makes it his duty to pick up someone’s tab if he finds himself in a shopping mall.

Earlier this year, he saw a grouchy boy at the table who abused his father and offered to bring him a pair of shoes, and removed the father’s tab from his coat and socks. He also paid off the debts of a young man who bought an engagement ring for his fiancée. In a furniture store with his wife, Shaquille O’Neal paid the bills for a mother who reported that she had an autistic daughter.
