Britney Spears has received an outpouring of support from fans, social media followers, and celebrity friends after revealing that she suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage.

The 40-year-old pop singer was expecting a baby with her 28-year-old fiancé Sam Asgari — the couple announced their news in April.

But sadly, the singer revealed on Saturday that she’s lost her third child — posting the news in a heartbreaking Instagram post.

Taking to the social media platform, Britney and Sam wrote in a joint statement: “It is with great sadness that we announce that we have lost our miraculous baby early in pregnancy.

“This is a tough time for any parent. We may have had to wait for the announcement to move on but we were so excited to share the good news.

“Our love for each other is a strength. We will continue to try to expand the beautiful family. We are grateful for all your support.”

“We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment,” the couple added.

Paris Hilton was among the first to send condolences to the singer, writing in the comments: “I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. Always here for you. Sending you so much love. I love you so much.”

Love Island host Laura Whitmore hinted that she’s keeping Britney in her thoughts when she responded to her update with a simple red heart emoji.

And American actress Gabrielle Unionwide left a similar message – with a string of red-hearted emojis left in a comment.

While Britney’s fiancé Sam added that they were intent on trying again to start a family, he wrote, “We’ll do a miracle soon.”

Fans of the duo also expressed their shock and grief at the tragic news – with one writing: “It’s better said and supported than kept a secret and go through alone. Sorry for your loss.”

And another of his books: “I send you love, light, and strength.”

While another responded, writing: “After everything I’ve already been through this is unfair. Sorry Britney.”

The child would be the third for Britney, who shares two children with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The singer’s two sons are 16-year-old Sean and 15-year-old Jayden Federline – born during her high-profile marriage to the former dancer that lasted from 2004 until 2007.

Britney and Sam got engaged on September 1 last year, as the singer announced the news just days after she filed a lawsuit against her.
