Maddy’s Female Farm

The site used for exterior shots of Maddie’s home is an 1890s farmhouse—”one of the oldest homes in Covington,” Amy notes. To liven up the interior, the team adopted “a palette of soft warm neutrals and floral patterns, with accents of teal, coral, and more vibrant blues to keep it fresh,” Amy says, as well as a “chic but effortless blend of the latest furniture, and top-notch finds. Antique stores, family heirlooms.” Designer Nick Morgan also points out that there is a lot to be learned from those layers: “In Madi’s case, the most important story to tell was her family’s story, specifically their past and what their lives were like until where we find them now. All the pictures and ornaments, the different styles of furniture that were put together. Over time to suit her tastes and needs, the mess that comes with kids and teens, the kitchen that definitely saw some huge meals and activities, all of these things were there to show the foundation and the house she built an expansion – just to serve as a reminder that they’ll never be the same again.”

Dana Sue’s eclectic and daring house (and restaurant!)

“Dana Sue’s turn-of-the-century farmhouse has given us darker, more moody, earthy greens and purples with pops of cobalt blue, fuchsia, and rich golden yellow. Her home is cluttered with clutter, art and finds that express her personality and an open chef’s kitchen filled with creative gadgets.” cooking,” Amy says. (Since Dana Sue’s style is also reflected through her restaurant, we’ve included sources from Sullivans as well.)

Polished and modern Helen craftsman

Helen is all about the new and the modern—and thus, her contemporary renovation on the bones of an old Craftsman-style bungalow. “Helen’s world is the most together of the three, with luxurious furnishings on a palette of deep, almost black, blue and gray, and bold patterns,” Amy says. “The hues of natural pinks, yellows, and blond woods, and the textured textures of her contemporary look give off a cool feel.”

THE CALM & SOTHING CORNER SPA

Filled with “silky and soothing” paint colors, Amy notes that The Corner Spa was a complex design challenge, as the team had to recreate the detailed historical details of a Greek Revival home on stage. (The Covington, Georgia estate is actually a law firm.) “Our build crew, led by John Hare, did an amazing job installing numerous layers of molding and repeating the graceful curves selected for construction. Silky, neutral paint colors were fully utilized, with modern background detailing to create Some subtle patterns. Tiles played a big role in creating a spa feel, and an overall feeling of freshness and light. Plants were also an important factor, whether large floor plants or hanging plants, to keep what would otherwise be a claustrophobic architectural style feel alive” .

We asked Amy (during a mock round of margaritas, of course!): Which one sweet magnolia The character is most likely…
… brakes for antiques?

“Dana Su and Maddie will make antiques for a regular weekend outing. Dana Sue can never miss an art outside, anything with an owl feel, cast iron pots are totally antique. Maddy has a nice place for vintage lithographs, plants and prints Old stone furniture in need of remodeling and refining
…shopping at HomeGoods?

“Maddy found some thefts at HomeGoods, like the linen armchair in her living room. She has a keen interest in design but also bargains. She has all the dance lessons, drama lessons, and baseball trips to consider.”
…decorating with family legacies?

“Maddy upholds that strong sense of family, in her children and the family she came from. She has classic pieces throughout the house, including a piano that definitely has a story. She also cherishes her children, with children’s legacy like the three hand-printed panels (one of each). kid) hanging in the kitchen above the living room door.”
…renew every three years?

Helen’s sense of modernity and femininity is an important element in expressing her personality. It embraces Serenity’s small town vibe but doesn’t want to define it.
…plant a garden?

All three! The Southern aesthetic has a lot to do with the outdoors. Maddie prefers petunias, begonias, and sunflowers because of their cheerful colors, Dana Sue would choose some herbs that are easy to care for but high impact in the kitchen (and cocktails) like Genovese Basil, marjoram, chervil and unusual mint, and Helen would choose something exotic and classic at the same time, such as Vibrant colorful dahlias.
…cuddling chintz?

Dana Su loves a little sparkle, shimmer, and fun in her eclectic decor.
… Eating a Needle Point?
Maddie might think about it, with a sense of soothing nostalgia. But we know with her three children the busy schedule to finish the project will be nearly impossible.
…watching HGTV party?

Maddy, loves DIY ideas. Although Helen probably takes a peek every now and then to make sure she’s headed in the right direction.
