Top six tips from Tash for choosing the right color for your home’s exterior:

    1. The color of your front door gives an indication of the character who lives inside. You want the front door to welcome you into the house and to welcome you with a smile. At the moment, pastel pink and purple shades are very much on trend that is fun, youthful and full of energy.
    2. Be wary of the gray tones of your front door as the color may lack character and make the property feel a bit isolated
    3. Choose a color that matches the tones and other materials of your home’s exterior décor. Consider the color of the bricks, windows, blinds, and letterbox, as well as the style of your front door. Lick offers a color-appropriate consultation service with one of their experts who can help you achieve the look you want
    4. When painting your exterior garden walls and front door, consider them as an extension of the rooms you are in. Does the color palette in your garden work with those in your kitchen? You ideally look to create a consistent flow within the space
    1. For structural features, look at your surroundings. I like to draw inspiration from nature, for example, soft blue to reflect the hues of the sky (blue 04/01) or green to blend softly with the surrounding garden or field (green 02/09)
    2. Look at your plants for inspiration! Lick’s Pink 04, Red 03 and Yellow 02 can bring new life to your outdoor space

Polly Ogden Duffy, Managing Director of John D Wood & Co. added: “First impressions are important.

“In fact, most buyers will make a decision within the first few seconds of seeing your home about whether they want to see what’s inside.

This is why an attractive entrance is key to maximizing the selling price of your property.

“It also helps secure views of your home, ultimately giving you the strongest chance of securing the best price for your property.

“A new coat of paint, coordinated with the existing door fixtures, gives the impression that the home is well taken care of and is quick and easy to implement.

“Buyers make a vital choice when they purchase their property, so the less they change, the more attractive it will be to most of them! If you want to go outside, add a year-round wreath.
