Plus, the three easy hacks shared by the interior design experts at Stelrad will create a contemporary West Coast look in any home.

Whether you’re trying to sell a home or make it a more inviting haven for guests, these tactics are a sure bet to update your space with minimal effort.

    Gorgeous corridor decor

Walkways are an area that often gets neglected in home renovations, so it doesn’t take much to activate the spaces. This is especially true of your entrance hall.

Chris Harvey, interior design expert at Stelrad, described it as “the first impression people make of your home.”

“You want your entryway to feel bright, airy, and large,” Harvey explained.

Consider decor that instantly communicates your personal style. You can also choose a neutral and cohesive color scheme, such as pear white or elephant gray, which goes especially well with paler woods.

Another way to make your home more attractive to potential guests or buyers is to fill the entry hall with botanical elements.

“Adding some greenery or color with a plant or fresh flower bouquet placed on a small table in the hallway will add charm and elegance,” Harvey said.

    Lighting on the next level

When people walk into your space, they will instantly feel at home if you meet them with plenty of light in every room.

“Brightness is welcome and when people come into your home, you want them to feel welcome and calm,” Harvey said.

As such, “it’s essential to have lighting in your hallway,” he added.

Choose a lighting option that can serve as a focal point for the entryway and do double duty as a unique decor.

“This can be anything from a chandelier to an antique lamp, depending on your personal style,” Harvey said.

If you’re looking to make a change that will appeal to home buyers, modern chandeliers and pendant lights are particularly choices.

    long mirrors

If you are trying to make a smaller space appear larger, mirrors are your secret weapon.

“I would suggest a large mirror that goes almost from floor to ceiling,” Harvey said.

“This will give the illusion of high ceilings if placed in the right place.”

If your hallway is shorter or feels crowded, rely on the power of optical illusions to expand the space.

“You want your hallway to feel bright, airy, and spacious,” Harvey reminded.

A series of slim mirrors creates a visual effect that mimics a long hallway, so it’s a great way to add dimension.
