Jane.com is hiring a new CTO to lead the transformation of its market

LEHI, Utah – (work wire) – Jane, the curated boutique marketplace featuring the latest fashion trends, accessories, home décor, children’s clothing and more, announced today that David John Smith has joined the executive team as Chief Technology Officer. Smith joins Jane to help shift the business away from a three-day fast-deal market to an evergreen model where sellers can offer products indefinitely. It focuses on building a world-class platform to support the more than 2,000 small businesses, owned by many women and minorities, that sell on Jane.

Smith has nearly 20 years of leadership experience creating technology solutions and developing high-performance software engineering teams. Most recently, Smith worked as Chief Technology Officer at Fashionphile, one of the world’s largest sellers of second-hand luxury products and re-trading partner with Neiman Marcus. Prior to Fashionville, Smith was Vice President of Technology at Nordstrom, and led global teams at TechStyle Fashion Group.

“As we prepare for Jane’s next growth phase, we are thrilled to welcome David to our executive team,” said Joanna McKenna, CEO of Jane. “David’s extensive experience leading technology and engineering teams in e-commerce and fashion makes him ideally suited to lead Jin’s technology transformation into a full-fledged third-party marketplace.”

“I am delighted to be appointed as Jane’s Chief Technology Officer and honored to lead such a highly talented group of engineers, product managers and designers,” Smith said. “I’m very excited about supporting Jane’s business model shift away from the deal site for three days and delivering a greater curated experience from evergreen listings.”

Smith’s appointment follows several years of explosive growth in Jane and a $40 million growth investment from Tritium Partners. As Jane continues to thrive, Smith will work with the team to build on the company’s $1 billion sales to date by implementing strategies that put the needs of consumers and sellers first. His team will focus on providing a highly structured customer experience that meets the evolving needs of consumers, while rolling out more tools and features for sellers.
