    Keeping teens active

According to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Open Network, fewer than 15 percent of teens meet the 60-minute daily physical activity recommendation during the pandemic.

More specifically for the state of Indiana, 25.4% of teens do not meet the recommended activity guidelines and 15.6% of teens are overweight, which is another reason why this initiative is so essential to their well-being.

A national study commissioned by Planet Fitness found that 93 percent of American teens You want To stay healthy and active during the summer months, but many lack the motivation or ability to do so. The High School Summer Pass offers a solution for teens who are eager to stay active when school sports programs, gym classes and after school activities are over.

“We believe we have a responsibility to provide a welcoming, safe and judgment-free environment for high school students to improve their physical and mental health, particularly given the challenges they face and continue to face in the wake of the pandemic,” says Chris Rondeau, CEO, Planet Fitness. “Our study found that nearly all high school students (92 percent) agreed that when they get regular physical activity, they feel better mentally. Fitness is also about feeling good, and we hope the High School Summer Pass will enable teens to create lifelong exercise habits. To help them succeed in every aspect of their lives.”

To further motivate high school students to make fitness a priority, all participants who sign up beginning May 16th are automatically entered into The Planet Fitness High School Summer Pass sweepstakes.
