Planet Fitness offers free workouts to teens all summer long

CHARLOTTE, NC – Planet Fitness has announced that high school students, ages 14-19, can workout for free at any of its Charlotte area locations from May 16 through August 31 as part of the High School Summer Card initiative.

“We are excited to invite teens all summer long to our clubs across Charlotte and North Carolina,” said Scott Briault, Senior Vice President of Corporate Club Marketing at Planet Fitness. “High school students have been among the most at-risk groups due to the pandemic, and we encourage them to remain active in the FTZ to improve their mental and physical health, both in the summer and in the future.”

The High School Summer Pass, officially known as the Teen Summer Challenge, was the first program of its kind launched in 2019 that saw more than 900,000 teens sign up and complete more than 5.5 million workouts over three and a half months. .

According to the Journal of the American Medical Association’s Open Network, fewer than 15 percent of teens have adhered to the 60-minute daily physical activity recommendation during the pandemic. A national study commissioned by Planet Fitness found that 93 percent of American teens want to stay healthy and active during the summer months, but many lack the motivation or ability to do so.

“As a leading fitness company, we believe we have a responsibility to provide a welcoming, safe and judgment-free environment for high school students to improve their physical and mental health, particularly given the challenges they face and continue to face in the wake of the pandemic,” said Chris Rondo, CEO of Planet Fitness. “The Epidemic.” “Our study found that nearly all high school students (92 percent) agreed that when they engage in regular physical activity, they feel better mentally. Fitness is also about feeling fulfilled, and we hope the High School Summer Pass will enable teens to create lifelong exercise habits to help them succeed in every aspect of their lives.”

Planet Fitness is further motivating high school students to make fitness a priority by automatically entering all participants who have entered starting May 16th into The Planet Fitness High School Summer Pass sweepstakes. Planet Fitness will award a $500 scholarship in every state, as well as the District of Columbia, and one grand prize of $5,000 at the end of summer. These scholarships can be used for academic or sports activities or programmes.

High school students can visit PlanetFitness.com/SummerPass to pre-register and get a reminder to officially register when the program officially begins. Teens under the age of 18 must register with a parent or guardian online or within the club.

In addition to the free in-club fitness training that all High School Summer Pass participants have access to, Planet Fitness certified trainers have also designed 15 coach-led exercise videos and 10 downloadable exercises – including cardio, strength, toning and sports circuits – only for high school students .
