Popular children’s books to add to your child’s bookshelf

    Writing a children’s book seems to be a rite of passage for today’s celebrities.

    From singers to talk show hosts, many celebrities are jumping into publishing with books aimed at children.

    If you have children or are looking for a good book to gift a child, here is a list of books published by some of your favorite celebrities.

    Marcus Makes It Big by Kevin Hart and Jeff Rodkey

    Kevin Hart uses some influence from his life in this Marcus series. Marcus Makes It Big is the final sequel to the first book, Marcus Makes It Big. In this new book, Marcus struggles to come up with a concept for his next movie and it looks like his friends are too busy to help. A talk show threatens to tear apart his friend’s circle.

    River Rose and the Magical Lullaby by Kelly Clarkson

    In River Rose and the Magical Lullaby, singer and talk-show host Kelly Clarkson tells the story of a young girl so excited to go to the zoo she can’t sleep. Her mother sings a magical lullaby which does the trick. Of course, Clarkson voices the actual lullaby which can be accessed via a link upon purchase of the book.

    Elbow Grease: Cleaning the Crew by John Cena

    WWE fighter-turned-actor John Cena has added author to his title with a series of children’s books called Elbow Grease. The series centers around Monster Trucks and in the latest edition, kids are taught how to clean up after themselves.

    Lily, The Last Black Rhino composed by Tiffany Haddish

    Co-written by Gerden Nolen and illustrated by Jessica Gibson, Layla, The Last Black Unicorn is inspired by Haddish’s life. The story aims to encourage self-acceptance and centers around the lovable but eccentric unicorn named Laila who doesn’t quite fit in with other unicorns and must learn that their differences make them special.

    Always with you, always with me Kelly Rowland

    Kelly Rowland and teacher Jessica McKay reunited to write the recently released children’s book, Always with You, Always With Me which explores the relationship between a working mother and her child. Roland, a former Destiny’s Child member, refers to the book as a lyrical celebration of working moms everywhere.

    Nana Loves You More by Jimmy Fallon

    Jimmy Fallon’s latest children’s book with illustrator Miguel Ordonez, Nana Loves You More, has been at the top of New York’s best-selling children’s book list for six weeks now. The book is aimed at grandparents to encourage them to read to their children. The book traces the success of Fallon’s previous children’s titles Your Baby’s First Words Will Be Dada, Everything Mama, That’s Baby, and Five More Sleep Until Christmas, all of which debuted at number one on the New York Times bestsellers.     Why Not You by Ciara and Russell Wilson

    Based on the name of their foundation, Why Not You, founded in 2014, the children’s book by soccer player Russell Wilson and singer Ciara is It aims to raise young people of color to embrace reading, encouraging them to pursue their wildest dreams and believe in themselves.

    The Adventures of Kai Kai by Serena Williams

    Inspired by her daughter Olympia, whose Qai Qai doll has her own IG page, The Adventures of Qai Qai fIt follows the story of a girl who struggles with self-doubt before an upcoming dance party. Qai Qai helps a girl develop confidence and aims to inspire other young girls to do the same.
