Rightware Kanzi introduces digital displays in the new Maserati Grecale Compact Luxury SUV

Helsinki – (work wireRightware today announced that the global icon Maserati has used its Kanzi user interface (UI) toolkit to create a basic human-machine interface (HMI) for its 2023 Grecale luxury compact SUV. Kanzi software plays graphics in both the digital instrument cluster and the head-up display (HUD).

Kanzi enabled a highly productive process for creative design and software engineering, accelerating the development of Grecale HMI with significant cost savings for a complex project, resulting in a major leap forward in the driving experience.

“It is an honor to have selected Kanzi for the cutting-edge, performance-oriented brand as Kanzi to develop its first digital toolkit,” said Freddy Geyer, CEO of Rightware. “Brand identity is central to the company, and Kanzi has enabled its team to design and implement a distinctive user interface aligned with the Maserati lineage.”

    Early Maserati

Not only is the Grecale the brand’s first car with a full digital instrument cluster, it’s also the company’s first production car with in-display graphics. The Maserati Innovation Laboratory in Modena implemented a design produced by the Style Center in Turin.

In the past, Maserati provided high-level user interface concepts to the HMI supplier, who in turn managed the design and implementation. Using Kanzi, a small team of Maserati designers and engineers were able to take the instrument cluster and HUD from initial design concepts to mass production in just under two years.

The result is a content-rich digital cockpit that preserves the classic Maserati look. Kanzi allowed the team to offer a unique user interface with rich 3D graphics in the toolkit without losing the look of the brand’s traditional mechanical scales.

    Kanzi فوائد Benefits

With Kanzi, Maserati had complete control over the user experience and graphic visualization from prototype to production. Rapid prototyping in Kanzi Studio gave the team the flexibility to iterate the design often throughout the process. With traditional tools and workflows, such intense redundancy tends to cause long delays.

UI design has traditionally taken at least three years. Going from inception of design to being ready for production in less than two years is a major achievement. Besides shortening the development cycle, Kanzi has enabled Maserati to take advantage of cutting-edge graphics to create a contemporary and unique user experience.

Maserati plans to provide Grecale with conventional and hybrid powertrains, and eventually an all-electric version. Each variant will require unique information to be displayed on digital displays while maintaining the look and feel of the model family. Leveraging Kanzi’s advanced capabilities, Maserati can easily manage UI variables within a single project, maximizing reuse for a consistent brand identity.
