“Running for fitness” and “road racing for health”

    Hundreds of students and fitness enthusiasts participated in two marathons organized separately by JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU), formerly Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) and Mysuru District Masters Athletic Association (MDMAA) at two different locations in the city this morning.

    In the first marathon, organized as part of Jayciana – 2022 by JSS STU, Mysuru, a 6 km race was held with the theme “Running for Fitness”.

    More than 358 participants including staff, students and others took part in the marathon which was set by the Vice President of the University of Mysore (UoM) Professor J. Hemantha Kumar of JSS STU College Grounds.

    The marathon passed through Bogadi Road, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, UoM Gate, Open Theater Road, Paduvarahalli Road, Hunsur Road, Premier Studio Circle and culminated at the starting point.

    Speaking on the occasion, Prof. J. Himantha Kumar said Jayciana has a history spanning nearly 40 years. “Running for fitness is a great initiative. In today’s world, keeping fit is the most important thing. Daily exercise and a good diet is the best way to keep us healthy. The best way to stay fit is to involve ourselves in daily activities. Sportsmanship is important,” he added. Extremely.

    The VC announced that he started his career as a lecturer at SJCE in 1994, and said that he studied MSc Computer Science at SJCE and has fond memories to cherish. “Jayciana has always been a unique festival that hosts different types of activities. It is essential that the younger generation maintain their mental and physical health,” he also commended the college for taking the initiative to organize the marathon.

    The youngest participant in the marathon was a 6-year-old boy while the oldest was a 78-year-old Mukund. The top five winners – P. Manikanta, CS Lakshmeesha, S.N. Sreedara, Purushotham and Sumanth – received a cash prize of Rs. 2000 each and a citation while the next six winners – Rahul, Gopi, Shivashikar, Srikanth, Manoj Kumar, Raviraj – took home a cash prize of Rs. 1,000 for each quote.

    Among the students organizing the event were KP Prajwal, Jayanth and Poorab Gowda.

    The meeting was attended by University of South Sudan Vice-Chancellor of Applied Sciences Professor Ann Santhush Kumar, Professor SB Kivadi, Student Welfare Officer MS Sunil Kumar and others.

    “Road Race for Health” by MDMAA

    The second marathon – the 10th “RNM Memorial Road and Vijayalakshmi Narayan Singh Memorial Road Race for Health” was organized by the Mysuru District Masters Athletic Association (MDMAA) for boys, girls, men and women.

    Over 500 participants of all age groups took part in the road race that was parked by MLA L. Nagendra near the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC).

    The distance of the road race for 10-15 years, 15-30 years for girls and boys was 2 km from the capital office to the county court while the distance for 30-40 years and 40-50 years for men and women was 1 km from the capital office up to the oval grounds.

    For children under 10 years old, the distance was from 100 to 400 meters.

    10-15 years old boys: Kishore, M. Vishwa, Malikarjun, Ranjith, Amar and Shantanagarago.

    girls: Prakruthi, Panupria, Ananya, Manasa, Sahana and Smith

    15-30 years boys/men: Aaron and Shifu Wen.

    Girls/women: Tejaswini, Chaithra, Tulasi, Monika, Arpitha and Vidhya.

    30-40 years old for men: Ragunandan, c. Abhishek, MP Ajith, Manjunath, Raksheth Won. Manu.

    40-50 years old for men: CR Charan, Chalovigoda, Govinda, MJ Shivana, Chandramoleshwara, and Devayah.

    Krishnaya, Director, Department of Physical Education at Uom, Dr. C. Krishna, Retired UoM DPE Director, MN Member Naveen Kumar, Vice President of MDMAA M. Secretary PG Satyanarayan and others were present.
