Skate in your own backyard in this $17.5 million luxury Phil Valley cabin

Gone are the days of humble log cabins, or so you’d think walking through this 11,000-square-foot retreat perched on the slopes of Arrowhead Mountain.

Newly listed at $17.495 million, the seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom home features luxurious amenities not often found in log cabin-style design, including a wine room, movie theater, and wrap bar.

However, even with all that extravagance, the mountain home still has the marks of a perfect ski getaway.

“It’s all straightforward, inline skate, skate,” says Bailey and Matt Iverson of Slifer Smith & Frampton Real Estate, who carry the list. “You can actually hit the side of the house with your sleds.”

Natural materials make up the bulk of the two-story exterior. A rich facade filled with wood and stone is decorated with logs found in gables, columns, and balustrades.

The earthy motif continues inside, with wood and stone implemented in nearly every design element throughout the two-story floor plan.

Soaring wood-trimmed ceilings rise at varying angles and heights from room to room, making every space feel comfortable. Arched, stone-clad walkways give the impression of movement through the mountainside.

The open floor plan is further divided by an impressive rock-fronted partition with a double-sided fireplace.

Fireplaces are ubiquitous, including in many of the home’s six guest suites and a basic suite, complete with a desk, double bathrooms, and a walk-in wardrobe with a full laundry area.

Outside, an outside patio includes a hot tub, large water feature, and fireplace, all with sprawling views of the valley.

Set on 1.5 acres along the Beaver Creek Mountain Ski Resort in Edwards, Colorado, the 2009 property is located near some of the state’s most popular ski resort towns, including Breckenridge, Aspen, and Vail.

As with many ski resort areas around the country, the market in Beaver Creek has remained strong, even with inventory at an all-time low.

“The market here is still hot,” Iverson said. “There are still a lot of people looking to get out of the cities for a quiet mountain house.” “But the stock is just a fraction of what it was five years ago, [making] This property is the only luxury home available to ski in and ski out in all of Beaver Creek.”

In April, the average list price in Beaver Creek rose nearly $100,000, up from about $2.76 million to nearly $2.85 million a month, according to area data from Slifer Smith & Frampton Real Estate.

The duo’s brother and mother, Cathy, make up the Iverson team. The group has completed more than $2 billion in career team sales.
