What will celebrities wear on Oscar night? Experts weigh

New York – chest area, legs and lots of shine. That’s what fashion designers and stylists expect on Sunday when celebs dress up and walk the red carpet at the 94th Academy Awards.

After two years when most of the world lived in sweatpants and award ceremonies were virtual or subdued, it was time for Tinseltown to live up to its title.

“I think after two years of lockdown, there will be a need to make a statement,” New York-based fashion designer Yasmine Chung told the Daily News. “It would be interesting to see the energy displayed on the rug. Even if there was something in a more reduced silhouette, it would be shiny.”

Last year’s awards show, delayed until April, saw the red carpet scaled back at Union Station in Los Angeles.

Designers expect this year’s show, which will take place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California, to take a dramatic turn.

“They’re so eager to get out…if the red carpets from the past few weeks are still available, you can see that there’s a lot of pent-up glamor — and unworn dresses — waiting for the big finale on Sunday,” said the New York-based fashion and style expert. Zhanna Roberts Rassi.

What should we expect to see?

The skin is in, El Rassi said, adding that “hardly-there looks have been popping up on celebrities and on catwalks lately. … We’re seeing a major comeback of corsets, so with that said, here comes the return of shoulders and cleavage.”

The stylists said Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, and Kirsten Dunst would be the most closely watched stars.

Fashion designer and TV personality Richie Rich told The News he’s looking forward to seeing what Cruz, who was nominated for Best Actress in Parallel Mothers, and Best Supporting Actress, Dunst, does for Power of the Dog.

“I think Penelope Cruz [is] Always… she’s amazing. I think she usually appears in Chanel but I always look forward to seeing her on the carpet. Will become [interesting] Rich, who was judged as a guest on the “Project Runway” and “Top Model” reality TV competitions, said to see what Kirsten Dunst is wearing because I feel like she’s an independent girl.

And do not refuse men. Male actors have recently dressed impressively, and Best Actor and Supporting Nominees Andrew Garfield, Cody Smit McPhee, and Will Smith won’t disappoint.

“They’ve been stealing the spotlight a bit lately. We’re seeing a whole new way for men to dress, and it’s both fun and inspiring to watch,” said Al Rassi, who is also a brand ambassador for Afterpay, a retail payments app.

Expect the makeup of the stars to be sexy and daring.

Rich, who launched a makeup platform called BEAUTYKWEEN for “tweens, tweens, and queens,” advised stars to go for it, for makeup. “My feeling is that all the Oscars looks have to be very makeup. Like if you’re going to go pink, go for neon pink. Give it a pop, because…they haven’t done anything lately. Just go for it don’t go To the safe edge. Go to the shiny edge, hey?”
