Bayfront Newport Beach home with hammock seeks $48 million – Orange County Register

Entrepreneur Mike Gray has listed his contemporary-style Lido mansion with a suspended bathtub shaped like a hammock for $47.5 million.

Designed for an indoor-outdoor lifestyle, the 8,868-square-foot Newport Beach home for St. John Nets president and wife, Laurie, has four bedrooms, six bathrooms and approximately 105 feet of private waterfront. It was one of the properties featured on Season 13 of Bravo’s “Million Dollar List Los Angeles” but hit the multi-list service only this week.

The couple bought the property in 2017 for $12.547 million, records show, and extensively remodeled and modernized it. They completed it in 2018.

Listing agent Tim Smith of Coldwell Banker Realty said in a press release announcing that Grays’ “longstanding passion for architecture, quality and design” has reported building “this charming waterfront haven” which he described as “unrivaled in quality, privacy and privacy scale.”

In Smith’s words, “One can simply open the doors to this private resort and feel the weight of the world go away.”

Euroline glass doors overlook the harbor and slide open, extending inward-out to the wrap-around Porcelanosa tile patio, lounge areas, pool, fire pit, and entertainment cabin with heated floors.

Inside, a wood-burning fireplace warms the light-filled living room.

There is an open plan kitchen with an island, custom cabinets and top-of-the-line appliances, and a service kitchen hidden from view.

A dining room, family room, executive office, and gym add to the home’s luxurious interiors, accentuated by suede and silk wall coverings, designer light fixtures, and corrugated porcelain tile ceilings.

The basic suite has a double walk-in closet and a spa-like bathroom where the black suspended bathtub steals the spotlight.

Completing the list is a separate one-bedroom, one-bathroom (above cabin) guesthouse with living room and kitchen, a six-car garage, and a private hardwood dock that can accommodate 60, 48, and 28-foot ships, with the option to retrofit a 100-foot yacht.

The Lido Isle house is close to Lido Marina Village’s restaurants, shops, private jet centers and golf courses. It also offers a front row seat on the famous Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade.

Mike Gray founded Sweet Life Enterprises, a bakery business that he sold in 2007. Prior to launching Sweet Life in 1990, he worked for St. John’s Nets.

The luxury women’s line was co-founded by his late father, Robert E. Gray in 1962.

Mike and Laurie Gray support several charitable organizations, including Hoag Hospital. In 2018, Hogg Health Center in Newport Beach was named Campus Mike and Laurie Gray for their “transformative gift.”
