Hyatt Centric Philadelphia Celebrates Pride Month with Distinguished Artist and Crafts Market

    Pride month is approaching. During June, dozens of businesses in Philadelphia will celebrate and support the LGBTQ community.

    Hyatt Centric Philadelphia, a Rittenhouse Square hotel that opened in 2020 at the former site of Little Pete’s Diner, will hold its first Pride-themed Maker’s Market on Saturday, June 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Alexander Hall. The event will highlight Philadelphia’s gay artists.

    Hyatt Centric will also feature artwork from contemporary street artist and muralist Tiff Urquhart throughout June as part of the Makers Series. Urquhart’s works will be displayed throughout the hotel. The hotel will host an open reception on Thursday 2nd June from 6:30-8pm to browse or purchase artwork.

    Tiff Urquhart, a Philadelphia-based street artist, her work will be prominently featured throughout the Hyatt Centric hotel in June, starting with a “Meet the Artist” open reception on June 2 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Patchwork will offer free snacks And free snacks. Craft cocktails pay-as-you-go.

    Urquhart has been working as an artist in Philadelphia since moving to the city from Florida after college. Last year, the mural artist responded to developers who painted a mural of LGBTQ activist Gloria Casares by painting a new one a few blocks away.

    In November, Urquhart worked with the Visit Philadelphia “Love and Grit” campaign, painting empty storefronts affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Urquhart has collaborated with Franny Lou’s Porch in Kensington and the Girls Auto Clinic in Upper Darby on two multimedia panels.

    During the open reception, guests can visit the short gallery and enjoy complimentary snacks from Patchwork Restaurant, as well as pay-as-you-go handcrafted cocktails.

    Hyatt Centric will celebrate Pride Month with its first Pride-style manufacturers’ market on Saturday, June 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Alexander Hall. Artist Tiff Urquhart and many other artists and craftsmen will be performing in Philadelphia.

    Urquhart’s work will also be featured in the Maker Market along with several small LGBTQ-based businesses. Below is a list of participating businesses, although there may be others added before the craft market.

    Fireplace Treatments: Online pharmacy selling bath and skin care products and herbal smoke
    Alqwir candle company: a business owned by a gay couple selling soy wax candles
    Your heart bleeds from glass: tinted glass in small quantities
    Allegra Bronstei: a non-binary fashion designer who sells unisex clothing
    toxic woman: a transgender and non-binary clothing company
    Kenny FieldHandmade ceramic jewelry, bowls and home decor
    Elias Gourola: an exotic and comprehensive brand of men’s swimwear and intimate wear
    Teff Urquhart: Contemporary street artist and muralist based in Philadelphia

    The market is open to the public and free to attend. Art and craft works will be available for purchase.
