Stealing from the dining room to design the foyer

There are many essential décor elements in any well-designed dining room: great lighting, large vases, and plenty of plush seating. And one thing we’re seeing more and more in design trends today is that decor that was once limited to one room is now free to move around in your home.

So while this week’s Instagram-inspired designs may have their roots in the dining room, they’re definitely at home in the gorgeous hallways we found for you this week. Here are five trending decor looks you’ll want to take from the dining room to the entryway this week.

1. Buffet side table

First on our list for dining room decor is swinging in the hallway? Buffet side table from mylittleredhouse.

“Buffet side tables are traditionally found in dining room settings, but we are lucky enough to live in a time when you can do just about anything in interior spaces,” says the designer. Devin Shaffer from Decorilla.

“Buffet side tables are the perfect choice for large entryways and foyers, as they help fill the space while providing the perfect choice of season-specific footwear and accessories,” Shaffer adds.

We’re sure these plush pink starkcarpet stools would look like a heartthrob in just about any room of the house—but they’re an especially welcome color in this foyer.

“These seats save a lot of energy for the room,” he says Corban de la VegaChief Marketing Officer, Decor Matters. “They are one-of-a-kind and make a bold point when entering the home. Your entryway should evoke emotions for visitors, and using splashes of color is a great way to do so. These set benches also add a touch of sparkle with gold accents and plush materials.”

3. planters vase

You don’t have to limit your entryway vases to flowers. Using a statement vase as a planter (as seen in this post from @prettylittlehomesbykini) may be the best way to keep fresh greenery in your entryway. And the bonus: You won’t be tasked with exchanging flowers every few days.

“For most people, entryways are the smallest spaces in their home and at the same time, they are the most challenging when it comes to design,” Shaffer says. “The general rule of thumb is to use less approach is more when designing. Sculptural elements help achieve this, especially with vases featuring green arrangements.”

4. Globe lamp

Another way to bring some sculptural elements into your foyer? With a cool globe lamp like this one from @ainsworthnoah.

“With limited furniture and décor in entryways, lighting can really become a focal point,” Schafer says. Globe lighting is amazing because it provides an even glow throughout rooms, especially those that are smaller. Plus, circular light fixtures help soften square and square doorways. Plus, when the lamp’s metallic finish matches the door and window components, it It really becomes an architectural feature.”

5. Chinoiserie Garden Backdrop

Elegant wallpaper has always been a favorite in upscale dining rooms. But blythcollinsoninteriorsn’s chinoiserie garden wallpaper brings a new kind of polished look to the hallway.

“Because the motifs and patterns of Chinese wallpaper are inspired by nature, they work brilliantly in entryways and create a strip from the outside into the home,” Shaffer says. “We love the more modern and playful take on centuries-old designs, especially when adding bright, cheerful (but naturally natural) colors like mustard yellow, emerald green, and robin’s egg blue.”
