Who do you think you are? Team 2022 returns to our screens with another star-studded lineup all hoping to reveal their family history and learn the eventful stories of their ancestors.
Celebrities set to star in the five-part series are Sue Perkins, Richard Osman, Matt Lucas, Anna Maxwell Martin and Ralph Little as they trace their ancestors’ unique and arduous journeys through history.

The stories are at once unique and universal – a reminder of our shared history and how it shaped who we are today.”

Who do you think you are? 2022 broadcast date
Who do you think you are? 2022 will be broadcast on BBC One on Thursday 26 May, followed by a week-long holiday for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, returning on Thursday 9 June.

What will the celebrity find out in who you think you are? 2022?
Sue Perkins
The opening episode sees presenter and comedian Sue Perkins learning a lot about her family, including how her paternal grandfather, Albert Perkins, suffered a terrible childhood loss.
She also discovers that her maternal great-grandfather Emil Müller, a tailor from London, was arrested as an “enemy alien” during World War I because of his German background. Also, how the family of Emil’s wife, Anna Teslau, experienced turmoil during the Second World War in Lithuania.
Speaking to What To Watch, Sue revealed why she was inspired by her father’s loss to be on the show.
She said, “For everyone bereaved, you struggle to make sense of the world. When you lose a member of your family, it feels like you’re in a hot air balloon and suddenly someone cuts one of the cables. To recalibrate, I wanted to know more about him and his ancestors. Also, why am I the person that I am?” It? What is the influence of my ancestors on my behavior?”
Richard Othman
In the second episode, quiz show host and crime novelist Richard Othman delves into the life of one of his ancestors who was embroiled in a notorious murder trial.
Matt Lucas
Actor, comedian, and presenter Matt Lucas is keen to learn more about his Jewish grandmother, Margot, who came to the UK from Germany in 1939. Holocaust stories in Berlin and Amsterdam come into the spotlight as he goes on his powerful journey.
Anna Maxwell Martin
Actress Anna Maxwell Martin encounters a heart-wrenching story of separation where her grandfather was raised, followed by a story about family solidarity.
Ralph Little
Actor and former semi-professional footballer Ralph Little is delighted to discover a footballing legacy in his history. In the meantime, he has found a deeper relationship with his hometown of Manchester.
